Same Day, Same Story
When a World Cup final is set, the window to say something about it is measured in hours, not days. This video was researched, written, voiced, edited and published inside that window.
The angle came out of the research rather than the result: the first World Cup final ever contested between the world’s number one and number two ranked sides, the first meeting of the reigning European and South American champions, Argentina chasing back-to-back titles, and a twenty year age gap between the two players the whole match would orbit around.
The Build
The opening sequence was built in DaVinci Resolve Fusion: a black and white flicker montage with isolated colour highlights, composited using colour correction and soft glow. It sets the tone before a word is spoken, and it’s the part of the edit that had to be right for everything after it to land.
The rest is fully self-produced. Research, script, on-camera voiceover, editing, colour grading and sound design, with licensed music through Epidemic Sound. It went out across YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.
Why It Matters
Most of the sports content I make is about finding stories nobody else is telling. This one is the opposite discipline: taking the single most watched event on earth and finding an original angle on it before anyone stops paying attention.
Both skills are the job. Knowing what the story is, and being fast enough to tell it while people are still asking the question.
